The Backstory “I Am Lonely.” It was one of his first forays using long house painting rollers to merge different colors together in lines, the lines then descended. While he was working on it, he had a serious brain surgery for epilepsy. And it was a five day hospitalization in which he was restrained, because if he touched his head, there was a risk of infection. It was terribly hard. So when he got back to the studio, all he wanted was to paint but he was weak. We thought maybe he could continue working on “I Am Lonely”. He lightly grabbed a tiny tube and did a delicate dot. We were like, oh my gosh, look how small he is doing it. He did that for two straight weeks. That was like his convalescence.
